Before you think of pulling a prank on someone for April Fool, pause and read these 10 Reasons to Stop April Fooling People. April Fools’ Day is rooted in the ancient pagan customs of this world. It is literally a day for fools! It is expedient to know that our God is the Author of wisdom but not foolishness. He expects us to seek His wisdom and not play the fool (James 1:5). On April Fools’ Day people are given an excuse to “play the fool.”
10 Reasons to Stop April Fooling People
- The Bible Calls You Rather A Fool Or Madman For Doing So
The Bible has never taken any act of foolishness on a lighter note at all.
“As a madman who casts firebrands, arrows and death, so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, ‘I was only joking’, Prov. 26:18-19
- Thinking of Foolishness is A Sin
In Prov. 24:9, the Bible warns that “The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men”. God is a Wise God. He created you in His image and likeness but not foolishness. Acting as one is a serious insult to the image of God.
- You Shall Be in Hell Fire For Calling Someone A Fool
Do you know that the slightest act of April Fool can land you to languish in hell fire? In Matt. 5:22, Jesus Christ warned:
“But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
- The Bible Condemns Every Foolish Talk or Joke
Do you like talking or joking about foolish things just for the mere fun of it? If yes, then read this:
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks”, Eph. 5:1-4
- Acting Foolish Defiles You
Jesus Christ Himself condemned every act of foolishness and warned all believers in Mark 7:21-23 saying:
“For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and foolishness. All these evils come from inside and defile a person”
- Judgment Awaits You For Every Idle Word Spoken
Man, know that you shall account for every idle word you speak on judgment day and by your own words; you shall be either justified or condemned. Matt. 12:36-37
- Some pranks can backfire and Kill
Some expensive jokes can kill and lead to other destructions and lose of properties and money. In 1896, John Ahrens scared his wife on April Fool’s Day. The wife really got scared, fainted and died an hour later. (Source: Des Moines Daily News, Apr 3, 1896). Do not do anything that you will regret later.
- Negative Memories Are Not Reversible
You must take note of the fact that any prank or April Fools’ joke that goes wrong may leave indelible marks on the victims. And each year, the victims may remember how they suffered in your hands on every April Fools’ Day.
- Serious Cases May Be Taken As A Prank
People will not take you serious If you are fond of pulling a prank on them. The next time you may need their help to save you from a terrible situation, no one will attend to you thinking it may be another prank to make a fool of them especially if the misfortune happens to you on 1st April.
- Expect Retaliation
You may not have the slightest idea of who may retaliate for making a mockery of them to be added to your April Fools’ List. Simply avoid it if you won’t like similar or same pranks pulled on you.
