Theme: Jesus: The Manufacturer Is In Town
Text: John 9:6
When He had thus spoken, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
Quite often, when we read this account, we picture Jesus smearing clay mixed with spittle on the eyes of the blind man as in the form of anointing with oil because of the word anointed…. and afterwards, asked him to go and wash in the pool of siloam.
But the Greek word which is translated ‘anointed’ is the word “Epi or Epichrio”. One of the definitions of this word is to “Overwrite”. Overwriting is a technological or computer term. It means to replace an existing document with a new one.
When Jesus knelt down to mix the spittle with the clay, He was not just Jesus the Saviour but also, Elohim the one who created man out of clay. Jesus was not just mixing clay to put on the eyes of the blind man but He was forming a new set of eyes out of the clay like He did for Adam.
When He was done, He “epi” it or replaced the old blinded eyes with the new ones He had just manufactured.
I used to wonder why Jesus would put sand in the eyes of a man who is already blind, and then ask him to go and wash in the pool of Siloam without any assistance. Little did I know that the man had received a massive surgical procedure where His eyes has not just been cured but replaced.
Once in a while, Christ steps in to remind us that He does not only heal, but also, He is still the manufacturer.
I prophesy with my eyes open. May the manufacturer invade your life today and overwrite every defect in your life in Jesus name.
Henceforth, you shall surely see clearly, not as blurred as the vision of the blind man until he received the second touch from Jesus. In times of sickness, infirmities or any growth and defect that demands surgery in your body, remember that the Manufacturer is still around.
