What is success to Christians? The focus of success to some church leaders is all money, having cars and acquisition of property, hence the frequent preaching of prosperity messages to their members. Now, if money is what being successful means to some believers, then we have failed as Christians.
The voodoo man can be rich and call it success, the footballer can be rich and call it success, the gambler and armed robber can be rich from their gambling activities and robbing others and still call it same.
We need to redefine what success actually means to the body of Christ. Having money or lots of it does not necessarily mean that one is successful in life. It may be far from it. There are a lot of people out there who have money but are neither happy nor fulfilled in life. And how successful is such an individual?
When a sinner becomes successful in the area of money, we criticize them and yet we inject the same mindset in the minds of the members and call it success. Is it because he is a sinner and has not yet come to the saving knowledge of Christ so we condemn his money and its sources?
To be successful is relative and we must not limit it to MONEY as ‘Prosperity Preachers’ have made it to look. Unfortunately, many preachers and pastors are only breeding a “materialistic generation” of believers who are losing site of the Biblical principles of wealth and the real end of mankind. What is the use if we preach all the prosperity message for our members to amass wealth on earth but die poor and miss Heaven?
Let us not rob the children of God of what true success means by limiting their minds to MONEY.
It is the time to be real and preach the real messages to souls as preachers of the Gospel.
